Description: CAP-Gly domain-containing linker protein 3 (CLIP3, also known as CLIPR-59) is a plasma membrane (PM)-associated protein involved in the regulation of early endosome/trans-Golgi network dynamics and the regulation of membrane trafficking [, , ]. CLIP3 interacts with active Akt kinase and modulates Akt intracellular compartmentalization [, ]. It also interacts with AS160, a Rab GTPase-activating protein that modulates Glut4 membrane translocation. It may play a role in the regulation of body glucose homeostasis and peripheral insulin sensitivity []. Despite containing two putative CAP-Gly domains (also known as microtubule binding domain), CLIPR-59 exhibits no association with microtubules in vivo. Instead, it is associated with cellular membranes, including plasma membrane, trans-Golgi network, and endosomes [].
