Protein Domain
Type: Family
Description: The TRPM subfamily of mammalian TRP channels includes TRPM3, which is a calcium-permeable nonselective cation channel []. TRPM3 is expressed by a variety of cells, including nociceptive neurons, pancreatic beta cells, and vascular smooth muscle cells []. TRPM3 channels are temperature sensitive and have been implicated in sensing noxious heat [, ]. They may also play a role of TRPM3 in renal Ca2+ homeostasis [].
