Signal peptide peptidase-like 2C (MEROPS identifier A22.006) is a homologue of intramembrane-cleaving GXGD aspartic endopeptidases. Unlike other members of the family, SPPL2C has not been characterized, and the lack of introns, low level of expression and high degree of polymorphism in the human gene has led to the suggestion that it is a pseudogene [].
