Coronins belong to the WD40-repeat family, which contains the WD40 motifs that act as the protein-protein interaction sites. There are several isoforms of Coronin in mammalian cells []. This entry represents Coronin 7. Unlike most of the Coronin isoforms, Coronin 7 has not been shown to interact with actin []. Instead, Coronin 7 binds to the outer side of Golgi complex membranes and acts as a mediator of cargo vesicle formation at the trans-Golgi network []. It physically interacts with both the AP-1 adaptor protein complex and the Src kinase [].
