Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) belongs to the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family, which are major mitogens for many types of cells and play an important role in angiogenesis and wound healing []. There are four PDGF isoforms: PDGF-A, -B, -C, which form homodimers or heterodimers (PDGF-AA, -BB, -AB, -CC, and -DD).This entry presents PDGFD, which plays an essential role in the regulation of embryonic development, cell proliferation, cell migration, survival and chemotaxis.
