Description: Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit C (EIF3C) is a component of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 (eIF-3) complex, which is required for several steps in the initiation of protein synthesis. EIF3C appears to be important for eIF3 activity []. Its N-terminal domain mediates eIF3 binding to eIF1 and eIF5 [], and its C-terminal PCI domain forms an important intermolecular bridge between eIF3 and the 40S ribosome [].
