PCP4 (purkinje cell protein 4 or PEP-19) is a small calmodulin (CaM)-binding protein that regulates CaM-dependent signalling [, ]. It binds to the C-domain of calmodulin (CaM) via an IQ motif and tunes its Ca(2+) binding properties via an acidic sequence [, , ]. PCP4 is predominantly expressed in the central nervous system, but it is also known to be expressed in other organs. Itmight affect a variety of cellular functions including the control of various neuronal processes [], aldosterone production []and apoptosis [, ].
