Protein Domain
Type: Family
Description: Members of the Krüppel-like Factor (KLF) family of of zinc-finger transcription factors are key regulators of cell proliferation and differentiation. They are involved in many aspects of development and physiology that include the cardiovascular, digestive, respiratory, hematological, and immune systems [, ].Members of the KLF family are known to play a role in maternal endometrium development during embryo implantation. KLF12 is expressed in the human uterus and endometrial stromal cells, and functions as a negative regulator of human endometrial stromal cell decidualisation []. It may also play a role in differentiation, and tumourigenesis and cancer progression [, ]. KLF12, together with KLF3 and KLF8, belongs to the KLF/BKLF subfamily and has been shown to repress transcription through recruiting a CtBP family member as the co-repressor [].
