Protein Domain
Type: Family
Description: Histone acetyltransferase KAT8 () has activity directed towards histones H3, H2A and H4 []and is the active component of the MSL and NSL complexes []. KAT8 autoacetylates itself on Lys-274 which is a requirement for binding to histone H4 []. In Drosophila melanogaster this protein is known as 'males-absent on the first protein' (MOF) [].The male-specific lethal (MSL) complex is a histone acetyltransferase with specificity for histone H4 'lysine-16' in chromatin. The complex consists of MOF, MSL1, MSL2, and MSL3 []. The complex was first identified in Drosophila.
Protein Domain
Type: Family
Description: The nonspecific lethal (NSL) complex associates with the histone acetyltransferase MOF (KAT8) in both Drosophila and mammals []. KAT8 regulatory NSL complex subunit 1 (KANSL1 or NSL1) is part of the NSL complex that is involved in acetylation of nucleosomal histone H4 on several lysine residues and therefore may be involved in the regulation of transcription [].
Protein Domain
Type: Family
Description: The nonspecific lethal (NSL) complex associates with the histone acetyltransferase MOF (KAT8) in both Drosophila and mammals []. KAT8 regulatory NSL complex subunit 2 (KANSL2 or NSL2) is part of the NSL complex , which is involved in acetylation of nucleosomal histone H4 on several lysine residues and therefore may be involved in the regulation of transcription [].
Protein Domain
Type: Family
Description: This entry includes the animal KAT8 regulatory NSL complex subunit 3 (KANSL3 or NSL3, also known as testis development protein PRTD), the testis-expressed sequence 30 proteins and their homologues, such as C. elegans SUMV-2 protein.KAT8 regulatory NSL complex subunit 3 is part of the NSL complex that is involved in acetylation of nucleosomal histone H4 on several lysine residues and therefore may be involved in the regulation of transcription []. The function of the testis-expressed sequence 30 protein is not known.SUMV-2 interacts with SUMV-1, and they may function together with MYS-2 in a nematode KAT8/MOF-like complex to antagonise the activity of the synMuv (synthetic multivulva) genes []. This entry also includes uncharacterized bacterial proteins.
Protein Domain
Type: Domain
Description: This domain was first identified in drosophila MSL1 (male-specific lethal 1) []. In drosophila it binds to the histone acetyltransferase males-absent on the first protein (MOF) and to protein male-specific lethal-3 (MSL3) [, ]. This domain can also be found in KAT8 regulatory NSL complex subunit 1 (KANSL1 or NSL1), which is involved in acetylation of nucleosomal histone H4 on several lysine residues and therefore may be involved in the regulation of transcription [].
Protein Domain
Type: Domain
Description: This entry represents an α/β hydrolase-fold domain of the animal KAT8 regulatory NSL complex subunit 3 (KANSL3 or NSL3, also known as testis development protein PRTD) and the testis-expressed sequence 30 proteins.KAT8 regulatory NSL complex subunit 3 is part of the NSL complex that is involved in acetylation of nucleosomal histone H4 on several lysine residues and therefore may be involved in the regulation of transcription []. The function of the testis-expressed sequence 30 protein is not known. This entry also includes uncharacterized bacterial proteins.
