This entry represents double C2-like domain-containing protein gamma (Doc2g). The Doc2 (double C2) family members Doc2a and Doc2b are characterised by an N-terminal Munc13-1 interacting domain, and two C2 domains that interact with Ca(2+) and phospholipid at the C terminus. In contrast, the C2 domains of Doc2g impair Ca(2+)-dependent phospholipid binding activity. The Ca2+-independent C2A domain of Doc2g seems to have a nuclear localisation function []. Doc2g may also function as an effector for Munc13-1, and it may be involved in the regulation of vesicular trafficking [].
