This family describes mitochondrial transcription rescue factor 1 (MTRES1) which was previously known as C6orf203. MTRES1 has been shown to protect the cell from mitochondrial RNA loss during stress by associating with mitochondrial RNA polymerase POLRMT, and increasing mitochondrial transcription, without changing the stability of mitochondrial RNAs [].
