CAMTAs are calmodulin binding transcription activators highly conserved across multicellular eukaryotes [, ]. Two CAMTAs are found in vertebrates, CAMTA1 and CAMTA2. CAMTA1 regulates miR-212/miR-132 expression and insulin secretion []. CAMTA1 is also a regulator of long-term memory formation []and Purkinje cell function and survival [].
