The Dihydropyrimidinase Related Protein (DRP) family, also known as collapsin response mediator proteins (CRMPs), consists of five members, DRP1-5. Members of this family have been proposed to be part of the semaphorins signal transduction pathway involved in neurite outgrowth, and neuronal differentiation and death [, ]. They are cytosolic proteins highly expressed throughout brain development [].Dihydropyrimidinase-related protein 1, also known as collapsin response mediator protein 1 (CRMP1) or ULIP3, interacts with semaphorin3A in the dendritic and synaptic development of the cortical neurons [, ]. Both CRMP1 and CRMP2 contribute to cytoskeletal reorganisation in the axonal pathfinding process []. |
