CXC chemokine 11 (CXCL11), also known as interferon-inducible T-cell alpha chemoattractant (I-TAC) or interferon gamma-inducible protein 9 (IP-9), is a cytokine belonging to the CXC chemokine family. It is chemotactic for interleukin-activated T-cells but not unstimulated T-cells, neutrophils or monocytes. It induces calcium release in activated T-cells. Chemokines act through G protein-coupled, seven transmembrane domain receptors; CXCL11 binds to CXCR3 [, ]. It may play an important role in CNS (central nervous system) diseases which involve T-cell recruitment []. |
