Description: Zinc finger protein DPF3 (DPF3 or BAF45C) is a component of the nBAF complex, which remodels chromatin, a mechanism by which selected genes are transcriptionally activated or repressed. It is a muscle-specific component of the complex, found in both skeletal and cardiac muscle. It binds acetylated lysines on histone 3 and 4 (H3K14ac, H3K9ac, H4K5ac, H4K8ac, H4K12ac, H4K16ac), acting as an anchor between histone acetylations and methylations and chromatin remodeling []. DPF3 has one C2H2 zinc finger and two PHD-type zinc fingers.
