Description: JAZF1 (juxtaposed with another zinc finger protein 1), also known as TIP27 (TAK1-interacting protein 27) or ZNF802 (zinc finger protein 802), seems to play an important role in lipid metabolism []. It functions as a repressor of the nuclear orphan receptor TAK1/TR4 [], which is involved in metabolic regulation, cell differentiation, and regulation of lipid metabolism. Mice lacking TAK1 are protected against obesity-linked inflammation and insulin resistance []. JAZF1 has also been shown to regulate the expression of visfatin, an important adipocytokine [].JAZF1 is associated with type 2 diabetes []. Fusion of JAZF1 with another zinc protein, JJAZ1, is frequent in endometrial stromal tumours [].
