Serine/threonine-protein kinase PAK 5 (PAK5, also known as PAK7) belongs to the mammalian p21-activated kinase (PAK) family of serine/threonine kinases that plays a role in a variety of different signaling pathways including cytoskeleton regulation, cell migration, proliferation or cell survival []. PAK5 (PAK7) induces filopodia formation and neurite outgrowth in neuroblastoma cells, perhaps through the Cdc42/Rac pathway []. It is an inhibitor of the MARK2 kinase, which leads to stable microtubules and dynamic actin []. It also has functions in apoptosis [], MAP Kinase pathway []and cancer malignant progression []. |
