Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) belongs to the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family, which are major mitogens for many types of cells and play an important role in angiogenesis and wound healing []. There are four PDGF isoforms: PDGF-A, -B, -C, which form homodimers or heterodimers (PDGF-AA, -BB, -AB, -CC, and -DD).This entry presents PDGFD, which plays an essential role in the regulation of embryonic development, cell proliferation, cell migration, survival and chemotaxis. PDGFD induces macrophage recruitment, increased interstitial pressure, and blood vessel maturation during angiogenesis [, ]. |
