Description: |
Phosphatase and actin regulator (PHACTR) family members bind to actin and regulate protein phosphatase 1 (PP1) []. PHACTRs are comprised of four family members (Phactr1-4) with distinct expression patterns in the adult brain. They appear to be involved in the regulation of synaptic plasticity via modulating PP1 activity []. Phactr1 is highly enriched in mature neurons, and appears to play a role in development of dendritic spines and axons []. In non-neuronal cells, it plays significant roles in actin remodelling, affecting tubulogenesis and lamellipodial dynamics []. Phactr1 is involved in the migration and actin dynamics of breast cancer cells []. The structure of Phactr1 has been solved []. |
