Description: SWI/SNF complex subunit SMARCC2 (SMARCC2 or BAF170) is a component of several complexes that remodel chromatin, a mechanism by which selected genes are transcriptionally activated or repressed. The complexes are SWI/SNF (A and B), which changes chromatin structure by altering DNA-histone contacts within a nucleosome in an ATP-dependent manner [[cite:PUB00088131]]; BAF [[cite:PUB00088126]]; and the npBAF and nBAF, which are neuron-specific [[cite:PUB00071281]].
