Located in late endosome membrane; lysosomal membrane; and mitochondrion. Part of AMPA glutamate receptor complex. Is active in GABA-ergic synapse; glutamatergic synapse; and postsynaptic membrane. Is expressed in cerebral cortex ventricular layer and cortical plate. Orthologous to human ABHD6 (abhydrolase domain containing 6, acylglycerol lipase).
PHENOTYPE: Homozygous null mice show increased glucose-stimulated insulin secretion from islets which exhibit elevated monoacylglycerol content in response to glucose. [provided by MGI curators]
