| description | LT/SvKau mice ovulate a high proportion of diploid primary oocytes rather than secondary oocytes. Arrested at meitoic metaphase I, these diploid primary oocytes can be fertilized to produce triploid embryos. The frequency of triploidy in a cross with C57BL/Ws is consonant with autosomal codominant inheritance of primary oocyte ovulation. Mutant allele Poo from the LT/SvKau strain shows incomplete penetrance and variable expressivity. In a heterozygote with a normal allele from C57BL/Ws, a small but consistent frequency of primary oocyte ovulation was found (J:30752). |
