| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: c<r> - a new c-allele. A new c-allele mutant has been found and named ruby-eyed dilute. It occurred as a mosaic in stocks of aa, c<ch>c<ch> mice. The homozygote shows reduced black pigment and absence of yellow pigment so that on agouti the coat is light grey, much lighter than c<ch>c<ch>, but darker than c<e>c<e>, and on non-agouti is light fawn similar to cc<ch>. The eyes show reduced pigmentation at birth and are ruby in the adult. In combination with the c alleles (c, c<e>, c<ch>) the coat is intermediate between the homozygous parental types and in the case of c<r>c, aa it is very light fawn resembling c<e>c<e>, aa.
