Allele : Tg(K5-Ptgs2)667Kmd transgene insertion 667, Karin Muller-Decker

Primary Identifier  MGI:2651675 Allele Type  Transgenic
Attribute String  Inserted expressed sequence Gene  Tg(K5-Ptgs2)667Kmd
Strain of Origin  NMRI Is Recombinase  false
Is Wild Type  false
description  Seven founder animals were constructed and bred successfully. The founders are designated lines 4, 19, 29, 663, 667, 675, and 678. Line 667 exhibits strong transgene expression.
molecularNote  The transgene is composed of a full length Ptgs2 cDNA without the 3' untranslated region fused to a bovine keratin 5 (K5) promoter. The bovine K5 promoter was used to drive transgene expression in basal keratinocytes of the interfollicular epidermis and in basal cells of the pilosebaceous unit. Transgene expression was observed in keratinocytes of the interfollicular stratum basale, the outer root sheath (ORS) cells of hair follicles, and the epithelial lining of sebaceous glands. Transgene expression was confirmed by RT-PCR analysis of stratified epithelial tissues.
