| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: New Mutants and Biochemical Variants: 3. Juvenile polycystic kidneys (jpk). This new recessive mutation appeared in strain C57BL/6J in 1973. The condition becomes apparent by two weeks of age when the abdomen becomes enlarged. Affected animals are smaller than their normal ittermates almost from birth. At 4 to 6 weeks the kidneys of the affected animals are completely cystic. Few affected animals live beyond 2 months. This mutation is not allelic with congenital polycystic kidneys, cpk (formerly cystic kidney, ck). Linkage tests are in progress. (Fox, S. and Eicher) |
