Protein Coding Gene : Abhd2 abhydrolase domain containing 2

Primary Identifier  MGI:1914344 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  7 NCBI Gene Number  54608
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Predicted to enable carboxylic ester hydrolase activity; hormone binding activity; and nuclear steroid receptor activity. Involved in acrosome reaction. Acts upstream of or within negative regulation of smooth muscle cell migration and response to wounding. Located in acrosomal vesicle. Is expressed in several structures, including cardiovascular system; central nervous system; endocrine gland; genitourinary system; and sensory organ. Orthologous to human ABHD2 (abhydrolase domain containing 2, acylglycerol lipase).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a gene trapped allele exhibit enhanced migratory ability of cultured smooth muscle cells and significant intimal hyperplasia after cuff placement. Homozygotes for a null allele show altered ovarian follicle maturation, an increased number of atretic antral follicles, and a dysregulated estrous cycle with a prolonged estrus.
