Protein Coding Gene : Tsks testis-specific serine kinase substrate

Primary Identifier  MGI:1347560 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  7 NCBI Gene Number  22116
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables protein kinase binding activity. Located in centriole. Is expressed in seminiferous tubule; spermatid; and testis. Orthologous to human TSKS (testis specific serine kinase substrate).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a null allele exhibit male sterility, low sperm motility, abnormalities in sperm head, midpiece and mitochondrial sheath morphology, and a spermiation defect associated with impaired elimination of spermatid cytoplasm, excess residual cytoplasm, and increased apoptosis in spermatozoa.
