abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: After irradiation of (101xC3H)F1 male mice, 6 cataract mutants were observed in the Fl-offspring. The mutants were detected using the slit lamp. They do not seem to resemble any known cataract due to a dominant gene. Tests of allelism between the mutants are now being carried out. All the cataracts are apparent when the eyes first open. The manifestation of the cataract of mutant 1 - 4 is always bilateral, for mutant 5 and 6 the cataract is sometimes developed only unilaterally. 5. Anterior polar cataract. A cone-shaped opacity is located at the anterior pole of the lens. The mutation is inherited as an autosomal dominant gene with incomplete penetrance. 6. Anterior fusiform cataract. A fusiform opacity is located at the anterior pole of the lens. A protrusion from the opaque region attaches to the corneal surface. The mutation is expressed as an autosomal dominant gene with incomplete penetrance. (Jana Kratochvilova) |
