Protein Coding Gene : Sidt2 SID1 transmembrane family, member 2

Primary Identifier  MGI:2446134 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  9 NCBI Gene Number  214597
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.0.0)

Enables several functions, including AP-1 adaptor complex binding activity; AP-2 adaptor complex binding activity; and double-stranded RNA binding activity. Involved in RNA catabolic process and RNA transport. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including regulation of insulin secretion involved in cellular response to glucose stimulus; type B pancreatic cell development; and type B pancreatic cell proliferation. Located in lysosomal membrane and plasma membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including inner ear; submandibular gland primordium; and vibrissa. Used to study metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease. Orthologous to human SIDT2 (SID1 transmembrane family member 2).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a targeted allele exhibit male-specific decreased body weight and size, impaired glucose tolerance, increased serum glucose, decreased serum insulin and decreased insule granule release from beta cells. [provided by MGI curators]
