Protein Coding Gene : Stip1 stress-induced phosphoprotein 1

Primary Identifier  MGI:109130 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  19 NCBI Gene Number  20867
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Predicted to enable Hsp70 protein binding activity and Hsp90 protein binding activity. Acts upstream of or within cellular response to interleukin-7. Located in myelin sheath. Is active in nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including central nervous system; liver; lung; metanephros; and notochord. Orthologous to human STIP1 (stress induced phosphoprotein 1).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a targeted allele exhibit embryonic lethality by E10.5, actute inflammation in the placental labyrinth, poorly formed neural tube and limb buds and increase double-strand breaks. Mice heterozygous for this allele exhibit susceptibility to ischemic brain injury. [provided by MGI curators]
