Allele : Utp14b<jsd> UTP14B small subunit processome component; juvenile spermatogonial depletion

Primary Identifier  MGI:1856924 Allele Type  Spontaneous
Gene  Utp14b Inheritance Mode  Recessive
Strain of Origin  C57BL/6J Is Recombinase  false
Is Wild Type  false
description  Homozygous females are normal and fertile. Homozygous males have small testes, normal serum testosterone, elevated serum follicle-stimulating hormone, azoospermia, and normal body and seminal vesicle weights. At 3 to 4 weeks, there is a reduction in number of spermatogenic cells that proceeds at different rates in different tubules, but by 8 to 10 weeks most tubules are devoid of germ cells, leaving only Sertoli cells(J:9278).
molecularNote  A CC to GAAAAG substitution 304 bp from the ATG putatively results in a frame shift such that after the first 105 amino acids, there are two substitutions (GE to LF) followed by a stop codon.
