Protein Coding Gene : Pzp PZP, alpha-2-macroglobulin like

Primary Identifier  MGI:87854 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  6 NCBI Gene Number  11287
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables endopeptidase inhibitor activity. Acts upstream of or within embryo implantation. Located in collagen-containing extracellular matrix. Is expressed in liver and liver lobe.
PHENOTYPE: Homozygotes mutant null mice show higher bone mineral density, hypoactivity, and decreased heart rate. Mice homozygous for a different null allele show resistance to the lethal effects of endotoxin, increased susceptibility to diet-induced acute pancreatitis, and altered LPS-induced febrile and cytokine responses.
