abstractText  Full text of MNL contribution: Two new 'hairless' mutants are under investigation. One, found by Dr. N.R. Grist (Virus Laboratory, Ruchill Hospital, Glasgow), is recessive and not allelic with hr. Homozygotes do not grow even a first coat of hair, and most die within a few weeks of weaning. The other, found by Drs. Kirkham and Bell (Endocrinology Dept., Edinburgh), is not fully recessive. Homozygotes grow very sparse coats of very short hair. Heterozygotes have curled whiskers and a 'greasy' coat looking like rough (ro) homozygotes. It is probably not allelic with ro or hr. (Isaacson JH and Cattanach B).
