Protein Coding Gene : Lamp5 lysosomal-associated membrane protein family, member 5

Primary Identifier  MGI:1923411 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  2 NCBI Gene Number  76161
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Involved in presynaptic modulation of chemical synaptic transmission. Located in several cellular components, including dendrite membrane; endosome; and growth cone membrane. Is active in GABA-ergic synapse and synaptic vesicle. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; central nervous system; sensory organ; vertebral axis musculature; and vibrissa. Orthologous to human LAMP5 (lysosomal associated membrane protein family member 5).
PHENOTYPE: Homozygous null mice show increased susceptibility to PTZ-induced seizures, distinct interneuron loss, dystrophic neurites, delayed habituation in the open field and neuronal network deficits. [provided by MGI curators]
