Protein Coding Gene : Pla2r1 phospholipase A2 receptor 1

Primary Identifier  MGI:102468 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  2 NCBI Gene Number  18779
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.0.0)

Enables phospholipase binding activity. Involved in negative regulation of arachidonic acid secretion; positive regulation of arachidonic acid secretion; and receptor-mediated endocytosis. Located in extracellular region. Is expressed in central nervous system and sensory organ. Orthologous to human PLA2R1 (phospholipase A2 receptor 1).
PHENOTYPE: Homozygous null mice are viable with no overt abnormalities. These mice are more resistant to toxic effects of lipopolysaccharide than controls, suggesting a role for this gene in the progression of endotoxic shock. Mice are more prone to spontaneously develop a wide spectrum or tumors with age. [provided by MGI curators]
