abstractText | The hotfoot 19 Jackson mutation in Grid2 arose spontaneously at The Jackson Laboratory in early 2009 on the C57BL/6J inbred background. This recessive mutation sometimes causes a leaning, side-to-side gait and slightly smaller body size in homozygotes by approximately 2 weeks of age. By 3 weeks of age all homozygotes display a rear-leg high-stepping ataxia typical of hotfoot mutants, wherein the rear legs are each lifted higher than normal and placed down with a patting-like motion. Using an F2 mapping population involving FVB/NJ this mutation was mapped to Chromosome 6 between positions 38,243,088 bp and 94,352,524 bp (GRCm38). The mutation was proven to be an allele of Grid2 by a failed complementation test with the hotfoot 18 Jackson mutation (Grid2<ho-18J>). |
