Protein Coding Gene : Tspan15 tetraspanin 15

Primary Identifier  MGI:1917673 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  10 NCBI Gene Number  70423
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables enzyme binding activity. Involved in protein maturation. Located in cell surface and tetraspanin-enriched microdomain. Is expressed in hypothalamus ventricular layer and pancreas epithelium. Orthologous to human TSPAN15 (tetraspanin 15).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a null allele exhibit a slight increase in mortality within the first 3 weeks of birth. No overt neurological symptoms or hippocampal synapse abnormalities are seen. A different knock-out allele showed incomplete preweaning lethality. [provided by MGI curators]
