Protein Coding Gene : Agpat1 1-acylglycerol-3-phosphate O-acyltransferase 1

Primary Identifier  MGI:1932075 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  17 NCBI Gene Number  55979
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables 1-acylglycerol-3-phosphate O-acyltransferase activity. Acts upstream of or within phosphatidic acid biosynthetic process. Predicted to be located in membrane. Predicted to be active in endoplasmic reticulum. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; central nervous system; genitourinary system; hemolymphoid system; and integumental system. Orthologous to human AGPAT1 (1-acylglycerol-3-phosphate O-acyltransferase 1).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a null allele show postnatal and premature death, reduced body weight and total body fat, decreased plasma leptin, glucose and IGF-1 levels, reduced gluconeogenesis, infertility, arrest of male meiosis, ovulation and estrous cycle anomalies, hyperactivity and audiogenic seizures.
