Protein Coding Gene : Cct6b chaperonin containing TCP1 subunit 6B

Primary Identifier  MGI:1329013 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  11 NCBI Gene Number  12467
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Predicted to enable protein folding chaperone and unfolded protein binding activity. Predicted to be involved in protein folding. Part of chaperonin-containing T-complex. Is expressed in several structures, including gonad; heart; hemolymphoid system gland; liver; and lung. Orthologous to human CCT6B (chaperonin containing TCP1 subunit 6B).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for null mutations in this gene are viable and show normal male fertility. Interestingly, males homozygous for one null allele remain fertile but show decreased sperm progressive motility and teratospermia characterized by sperm neck bending and cytoplasmic redundancy.
