Protein Coding Gene : Pnpla7 patatin-like phospholipase domain containing 7

Primary Identifier  MGI:2385325 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  2 NCBI Gene Number  241274
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables lysophospholipase activity. Involved in phosphatidylcholine catabolic process. Located in endoplasmic reticulum membrane and lipid droplet. Is expressed in several structures, including central nervous system; germ cell of testis; and retina nuclear layer. Orthologous to human PNPLA7 (patatin like phospholipase domain containing 7).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a null allele exhibit premature death, weight loss, kyphosis, thin muscle fibers, decreased subcutaneous and visceral adipose tissue, increased food intake, hyperactivity, increased oxygen consumption, decreased body temperature, and browned white adipose tissue morphology with altered choline metabolism.
