Protein Coding Gene : Rbm15 RNA binding motif protein 15

Primary Identifier  MGI:2443205 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  3 NCBI Gene Number  229700
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables RNA binding activity. Involved in regulation of alternative mRNA splicing, via spliceosome and thrombopoietin-mediated signaling pathway. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including circulatory system development; regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II; and spleen development. Located in nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including brain; olfactory epithelium; retina; thymus; and trophectoderm. Orthologous to human RBM15 (RNA binding motif protein 15).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit embryonic lethality around E9.5. Mice homozygous for a floxed allele activate in hematopoietic cells exhibit increased megakaryocyte cell number, long-term hematopoietic stem cells, and red pulp as well as decreased B cells and leukocytes.
