Protein Coding Gene : Sdc1 syndecan 1

Primary Identifier  MGI:1349162 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  12 NCBI Gene Number  20969
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables cargo receptor activity. Involved in myoblast development and receptor-mediated endocytosis. Acts upstream of or within canonical Wnt signaling pathway. Located in external side of plasma membrane. Is active in plasma membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; egg cylinder; sensory organ; skin; and urinary system. Orthologous to human SDC1 (syndecan 1).
PHENOTYPE: Targeted mutant mice are overtly normal but resist mammary tumor development in response to Wnt1, and show delayed cutaneous and corneal wound healing, defective leukocyte adhesion to endothelia, increased angiogenesis, as well as reduced susceptibility to P. aeruginosa lung infection.
