Protein Coding Gene : Epx eosinophil peroxidase

Primary Identifier  MGI:107569 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  11 NCBI Gene Number  13861
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables peroxidase activity. Acts upstream of or within defense response to nematode; eosinophil migration; and regulation of cytokine production. Predicted to be active in extracellular space. Is expressed in bone marrow and embryo. Orthologous to human EPX (eosinophil peroxidase).
PHENOTYPE: Targeted deletion of this gene results in ultrastructural changes of the eosinophil secondary granule but does not significantly alter the course of inflammation or development of allergic pulmonary pathologies in an ovalbumin-challenge model of pulmonary inflammation.
