Protein Coding Gene : Dnajb9 DnaJ heat shock protein family (Hsp40) member B9

Primary Identifier  MGI:1351618 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  12 NCBI Gene Number  27362
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables Hsp70 protein binding activity. Involved in B cell differentiation; ERAD pathway; and positive regulation of immunoglobulin production. Located in endoplasmic reticulum lumen. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; integumental system; nervous system; respiratory system; and sensory organ. Orthologous to human DNAJB9 (DnaJ heat shock protein family (Hsp40) member B9).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a hypomorphic allele show perinatal death, reduced birth size and liver glycogen levels, and hypoglycemia. Surviving adults show elevated ER stress in MEFs, lung, kidney, salivary gland and in pancreas, associated with beta cell loss, hypoinsulinemia, and glucose intolerance. [provided by MGI curators]
