Protein Coding Gene : Ephb1 Eph receptor B1

Primary Identifier  MGI:1096337 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  9 NCBI Gene Number  270190
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.0.0)

Enables axon guidance receptor activity. Involved in several processes, including dendritic spine morphogenesis; detection of temperature stimulus involved in sensory perception of pain; and negative regulation of satellite cell differentiation. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including axonogenesis; ephrin receptor signaling pathway; and optic nerve morphogenesis. Located in several cellular components, including axon; filopodium tip; and membrane raft. Is active in glutamatergic synapse. Is expressed in several structures, including 1st branchial arch; brain; sensory organ; urogenital sinus; and vascular system. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in prostate cancer. Orthologous to human EPHB1 (EPH receptor B1).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for disruptions of this gene display marked reductions of the ipsilateral optic tract. Homozygotes for one null allele show reduced corticospinal tract and abnormal anterior commissure axon crossing. [provided by MGI curators]
