Protein Coding Gene : Mta2 metastasis-associated gene family, member 2

Primary Identifier  MGI:1346340 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  19 NCBI Gene Number  23942
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables histone deacetylase activity and transcription coregulator activity. Involved in negative regulation of DNA-templated transcription. Acts upstream of or within genomic imprinting; negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II; and positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Located in nucleus. Part of NuRD complex. Is expressed in several structures, including central nervous system; early conceptus; genitourinary system; limb; and retina. Used to study systemic lupus erythematosus. Orthologous to human MTA2 (metastasis associated 1 family member 2).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a null allele exhibit partial embryonic and perinatal lethality, reduced weight, shortened lifespan, and increased susceptibility to systemic lupus erythematosus with increased T cell proliferation under Th2 conditions. [provided by MGI curators]
