Protein Coding Gene : G6pc3 glucose 6 phosphatase, catalytic, 3

Primary Identifier  MGI:1915651 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  11 NCBI Gene Number  68401
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables glucose-6-phosphatase activity. Involved in gluconeogenesis. Acts upstream of or within glucose-6-phosphate transport. Is active in endoplasmic reticulum. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; brain; genitourinary system; respiratory system; and sensory organ. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in severe congenital neutropenia 4. Orthologous to human G6PC3 (glucose-6-phosphatase catalytic subunit 3).
PHENOTYPE: Homozygous mutation of this gene results in females, but not males, that are growth retarded and weight less and exhibit elevated plasma glucagon levels but lowered plasma cholesterols after fasting. [provided by MGI curators]
