abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Research News: The imperfectly penetrating recessive crinkly-tail, cy, (MNL 44: 18) has shown very significant association with brown, b, in coupling intercross and semi-backcross matings. A stock of bcy with 100% penetrance has been made up. Matings Ps/bcy x bcy (100%) have given data: First backcross: Ps: 103; b cy: 26; Ps cy: 4; b: 102; Ps b: 1; cy: 0; Os b cy: 0; +++: 11; Total: 247; Second backcross: Ps: 22; b cy: 14; Ps cy: 5; b: 24; Ps b: 4; cy: 1; Ps b cy: 1; +++: 7; Total: 78. This shows that it is easy to increase penetrance of cy, and that the order is Ps - b - cy. A chromosome marker stock m - Ps - b - cy is being made; it, and b cy (100%), are offered to holders of wd or asp which must be near cy. (Ferguson, Wallace). |
