Protein Coding Gene : Ccr8 C-C motif chemokine receptor 8

Primary Identifier  MGI:1201402 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  9 NCBI Gene Number  12776
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.1.0)

Enables C-C chemokine receptor activity. Acts upstream of or within chemotaxis. Predicted to be located in plasma membrane. Predicted to be active in external side of plasma membrane. Is expressed in central nervous system; retina; and thymus primordium. Orthologous to human CCR8 (C-C motif chemokine receptor 8).
PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for either of two independently generated knock-out alleles show normal lung eosinophilia and Th2 cytokine responses in OVA-elicited asthma models. Mice homozygous for a third knock-out allele show a delay in onset of clinical signs of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis. [provided by MGI curators]
