Protein Coding Gene : Cpeb4 cytoplasmic polyadenylation element binding protein 4

Primary Identifier  MGI:1914829 Organism  mouse, laboratory
Chromosome  11 NCBI Gene Number  67579
Mgi Type  protein coding gene
description  FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 7.0.0)

Enables RNA binding activity. Involved in cellular response to amino acid stimulus and response to ischemia. Located in several cellular components, including dendrite; endoplasmic reticulum; and postsynaptic density. Is expressed in several structures, including central nervous system; dorsal root ganglion; liver; lung; and sensory organ. Orthologous to human CPEB4 (cytoplasmic polyadenylation element binding protein 4).
PHENOTYPE: Homozygotes for a null allele show slightly longer dendritic spines but normal hippocampal synaptic plasticity and memory. Homozygotes for a different null allele show neo- and postnatal lethality, erythropoiesis, suckling and mobility defects, and reduced motor axon branching and NMJ formation.
